Let the blogging begin! I wanted to create a blog to share with the world my current and future travel adventures. So much happens when you are overseas, and let's be real, Facebook does not cut it when it comes to really sharing your stories with others. Six weeks ago I left the comfort of my home on the Gold Coast in Queensland (most beautiful beaches in the world) and headed to New York alone. I had been talking about living in New York for at least 6 months, but this was before any research into visa or travel expenses had been done. I unfortunately did not fit any of the different visa criteria's as most of them required a maximum of twelve months gap between Uni and I was coming up to the two year mark. I studied a Bachelor of Creative Industries majoring in Drama, so finding an internship over there was also near to impossible. I decided to go to NYC for the three month maximum on a Visa waiver, aiming to use up every second of those ninety days exploring every inch of this city, meeting new people, indulging my taste buds and searching for the rare cheap finds that only second hand shops can provide. I remember my mum always dragging me to the vintage shops making her way through the endless racks of clothes at every place imaginable. When i was young I thought this to be embarrassing that my mum had a certain vintage look compared to the 'Country Road' mums, but I soon learnt she was just ahead of all of us, as we now have caught onto this old way of making something else your own.
I ended up cutting my trip EVEN shorter than planned as I injured my knee on my fourth day there, but pushed through the pain and ended up staying for the best five weeks of my traveling life. I will share all the different spots in New York and some of the Countries I have visited and show you the little treasures I found. Beffrey was a nick name one of my best friends (and one the greatest people to travel with) gave me during one of our regular laughing fits.
Beffrey .......... learning to be-free!
